Backyard Songs comes from a collection of music “Backyard Songs: Songs from the Hammock” created about 10 years ago by two moms in their backyards. The music explores issues that parents encounter interacting with their families and sheparding their children through the educational maze that, like the big gorilla in the room, permeates family life. In the course of this project, we’ve explored children’s rights, special education, individualized instruction – and ways to end run a system of education that seems set on leaving kids behind. We also found time to investigate relationships and other the fun stuff of family life. Now that I’ve become a novice blogger, and with the permission of my co-owner of the name Backyard Songs, I titled this blog Backyard Songs with the same themes in mind.
